OpenAI launches advanced new AI agent ‘Deep Research’ challenging ‘DeepSeek R1’

Hyderabad: OpenAI has launched a new AI agent called ‘Deep Research’ amid high stakes battle following entry of China’s DeepSeek R1, which made headlines recently.
The new tool, launched by Sam Altman‘s OpenAI produces detailed reports, heating up competition in the field of AI. The newly-launched tool is available with ChatGPT Pro, Plus and Team Next users currently.
Deep Search can use the internet and perform complex research and reasoning and bring out reports in seconds.
Terming the new tool a ‘superpower’ Sam Altman posted on his X account, saying, “today we launch deep research, our next agent. this is like a superpower; experts on demand! it can go use the internet, do complex research and reasoning, and give you back a report. it is really good, and can do tasks that would take hours/days and cost hundreds of dollars. (sic)”
According to Srinivas Narayanana, OpenAI’s vice president of engineering, Deep Research excels at breaking down complex questions, analysing inputs from the internet and interpreting files for insightful solutions.
The advanced AI agent can handle preparation of research reports, can personaliz shopping advices and plan travel itineraries, he added.
