Hyderabad: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has demanded that the State government operate the paddy procurement centres as done in the past, failing which a State-wide agitation would be launched. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that minimum support price and procurement centres will be done away with from next year. There is a need to wage a war against such moves. Congress is the only party which works for farmers’ welfare,” he said.
The CLP leader, participating in Porubata-Polambata programme in Balkonda and Nizamabad rural constituencies on Sunday, interacted with farmers, and said that on behalf of the farmers, the Kisan Congress will be conducting a ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ programme on February 27.

He appealed to all the farmers to participate in the programme in huge numbers. “The Chief Minister is ignoring farmers’ interests,” Vikramarka said.
In a scathing attack on BJP MP D Arvind, the CLP leader said Arvind had promised to establish a Turmeric Board, and that if he didn’t succeed, he would resign from the post. “Two years have passed by. Forget Turmeric Board, there is no initiative even to get minimum support price,” he said.
