Operation Cheyutha: 314 Maoists surrender to Kothagudem police in last eight months

In a major boost to anti-Maoist efforts, 314 Maoists of various ranks have surrendered to police in Kothagudem district over the past eight months under ‘Operation Cheyutha’. Eight cadres, including a woman, surrendered on Tuesday, receiving immediate assistance and promises of rehabilitation.

Kothagudem: As many as 314 Maoists of different ranks surrendered to police in the past eight months in Kothagudem under ‘Operation Cheyutha’ initiative of the district police, informed Superintendent of Police, B Rohith Raju.

As part of the initiative eight Maoists, including a woman cadre, surrendered to the district police, officials of CRPF 81 and 141 Battalions here on Tuesday to live a peaceful life with their families.

ACM (South sub-Zonal Bureau, supplying team) Vetti Somda, his wife and party member Muchaki Lakme, militia members Oyam Laxman, Podium Kosa, Mudam Kosa, Madavi Nandu, Karam Somudu and Madavi Ura were the naxals who surrendered.

Each of the eight surrendered Maoist members was given Rs 25,000 in cash as immediate assistance. Additional financial support would be provided based on their ranks after processing their personal and bank details.

Four DVCMs, 21 ACMs, 40 party members, 116 militia members, 35 RPC members, 47 DAKMs/KAMSs, 30 CNM members and 21 GRD members have surrendered so far this year in the district. All have received appropriate rehabilitation support, the SP said.

The Telangana government and police department are working for the development and welfare of tribal communities. Significant progress has been made in tribal areas in terms of roads, schools, hospitals, drinking water and electricity while the police department is striving to provide quality education and health care to every remote village.

As many as 81 cadres from Telangana State are working in the CPI (Maoist) Party across various States at present while five of them are from Kothagudem district, Rohith Raju revealed while appealing to them to surrender to lead a peaceful life with their families.
