Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha urged the Centre to immediately halt Operation Kagar and initiate peace talks with the Maoists, stressing that force was not the solution to end naxalism. She exuded confidence that every political party in the country would support the Centre in this cause.

“We firmly believe that the ideology of naxalism should be addressed only through dialogue and not by the use of force. India must find a political solution to Naxalism,” she said, adding that a democratic process through dialogue was essential.

Pointing to the success of Telangana’s approach under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s leadership, Kavitha pointed out that 3,500 Naxalites surrendered during the BRS’ decade-long rule.

“Thanks to KCR’s policies, even Naxalites from Chhattisgarh chose a peaceful life in Telangana,” she remarked, urging the current government to adopt a similar path.

Expressing concern over the plight of Adivasis caught between Maoists and police forces, she reminded that every life lost was a loss to the nation and hence, the Centre must act with compassion.
