Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police as part of the ‘Operation Muskaan VII’ rescued 172 children and registered 18 cases against the employers.

The operation was conducted between July 1 and 17 across the Commissionerate in association with the Anti-Human Traffic Unit (AHTU), She Teams and Divisional Muskaan teams.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner, Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, formed eight divisional teams comprising sub-inspector and four constables each and these teams are supported by the She teams and AHTU of the Rachakonda Police.

“During the operation, raids were conducted at various companies and commercial establishments by the team and the children were rescued. A special drive was taken against the minors found begging on the streets and their pictures also taken and uploaded on “Darpan App,” said the Commissioner.

A total of 59 boys and 29 girls of Telangana and 44 boys and 40 girls who are from other States were rescued by the police during the operation.

The police registered the cases under various Sections of the Juvenile Justice Act, Child Labour Act and Bonded Labour Act against the managements, who engaged minor children in various works. A total of 37 persons were arrested.

“The management/employer utilized the service with child labour for more than nine hours by paying informal amount. The owners of companies bring the child labour from other states and exploit them,” Mahesh Bhagwat said.
