Siddipet: Commissioner of Police N Swetha has instructed the police officials to identify the children who were engaged in begging or working in industries or shops across Siddipet commissionerate limits. Talking to officials from various departments concerned on Operation Smile-VIII here on Friday, the Commissioner said that a five-member team headed by a Sub-Inspector of Police was formed. The Operation Smile drive will be carried out in the Siddipet district from January 1 to 31.
Asking them to file criminal cases against those employing children or forcing children to beg, Swetha suggested the officials reunite such children with the parents by identifying them with missing person profiles found on Darpan mobile app. The Commissioner asked them to send the remaining children to rehabilitation centers until their parents were traced. She called upon the citizens to send messages on child labour or child begging to dial 100 or Commissionerate What’s App number 7901100100.
Enquiring about the previous drives of operation smile and operation Muskan conducted, Swetha said that they will keep the names of whistleblowers secret on child labours or child begging. She has appointed Additional DCP (Admin) Mahendar as district-level nodal officer to carry out Operation Smile drive in the district. Child Welfare Committee Chairperson K Rajalingam, District Welfare Officer K Ramagopal Reddy, District Child Protection Officer Ramu, Labour Officer Nagaraju and others were present.
