Hyderabad: Oracle Swaranalatha gave her predictions in the form of a stern prophecy warning for Telangana during the annual ‘Rangam’ organised as part of Bonalu, stating that this year Telangana may suffer major natural calamities like severe floods, resulting in human loss and also fire accidents.

Rangam is a decades-old ritual organised during Bonalu every year, and thousands of devotees were waiting with anxiety for oracle predictions. Likewise, this year, Swarnalatha stood atop a wet earthen pot and performed the ritual at the temple premises in Secunderabad, and answered several questions posed by the head priest of Ujjaini Mahakali temple, Venugopal Sharma.

This year, Swarnalatha expressed anguish at several questions asked by the head priest during the 15-minute Rangam, with her teeth clenching. She did not open her mouth for one to two minutes when the head priest of the temple posed a question to her on predictions. Her action created high tension among the devotees.

She questioned the temple management for not installing a Goddess idol, to which they assured to do it within two months. The priest Venugopal Sharma replied that a few persons were creating a hurdle for the installation of the statue. The oracle said she would take care of the people who were creating hurdles. The oracle gave six months to install it. The priest, Sharma, said that this would be done during the ‘Uttarayanam’ period.

Swarnalatha also said that she was unhappy over the rituals being performed to the Goddess and said that this year, Telangana will get bountiful rains and also see significant human loss and fire accidents and torrential floods.

Oracle, however, gave assurance and continued to protect devotees during difficult times, even though her commitment to install the idol had not been fulfilled.

Hundreds of devotees witnessed this event at the temple premises. The Police Department deployed a huge police force keeping in view this event at the temple premises.
