Organs of 33-year-old technician donated under Jeevandan scheme
After being declared brain dead following an accident, 33-year-old technician Srikanth’s organs were donated by his wife under Telangana’s Jeevandan scheme. His heart was transported from KIMS to NIMS in 17 minutes through a green channel, saving lives
Hyderabad: Organs of a 33-year-old cathlab technician, Madunurolla Srikanth, resident of Chevella, who was declared brain dead by doctors, were donated to needy patients by family members, as part of the state-run Jeevandan scheme.
On October 5, Srikanth received serious injuries when his two-wheeler collided with another two-wheeler at Shivampet, Sangareddy and was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad.
After emergency treatment, Srikanth was declared brain dead on October 14 and his wife, Madunurolla Sarika, decided to donate his liver, heart and kidneys to needy patients.
A green channel was created for the rapid transport of the donor heart from KIMS Hospital, Kondapur to NIMS, Punjagutta, covering the distance of 15 km in just 17 minutes.
In charge, Jeevandan, Dr Sree Bhushan extended gratitude to the family of Srikanth and thanked Cyberabad Traffic Police and Hyderabad Traffic Police for swift action that enabled donor organs to be transported quickly.
