Hyderabad: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) has recently organized a one-day orientation-cum-interactive session on ‘Sensitisation, Prevention and Redressal of Sexual Harassment’ (SPARSH).
Dr. GB Reddy, Professor of Law, Osmania University, and Dr. Aparna Rayaprol, Professor of Sociology, University of Hyderabad, delivered lectures and interacted with the participants.
In his address, Prof. GB Reddy explained about the various legislations and other provisions to deal with the sexual harassment at workplaces. He emphasized on the importance of sensitizing people at workplaces on the need to respect the rights, dignity, and privacy of the women.
Prof. GB Reddy has also stressed upon the importance of women asserting their rights and seeking legal recourse and utilizing the existing committees or other channels to lodge complaints and prevent and fight harassment at the workplaces.
Prof. Aparna Rayaprol highlighted the importance of proactive functioning of the SPARSH committees and the need to promote greater awareness among all sections to prevent any type of harassment at workplaces.
Responding to a host of queries from the participants, the resource persons have explained various options for the victims to seek justice and expose the perpetrators.
