Hyderabad: A freak chain of road crashes on the ORR-Khajaguda stretch has left a man dead and a student seriously injured, with the Raidurgam police arresting Sandeep, son of art director Anand Sai, in connection with an alleged hit-and-run on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on the main road connecting the ORR Rotary and Khajaguda village on Monday.
According to information available, the victim, identified as Nandulal (40), was walking along the road when a new Toyota Innova car allegedly hit him. The impact left him critically injured, but the driver reportedly failed to stop and fled the spot.
A student, identified as Zaid Shah Qadri, came to Nandulal’s rescue and attempted to take him to a nearby hospital. However, while the injured man was being shifted, another vehicle allegedly struck Zaid.
Police sources said a Mahindra car, travelling at high speed, hit the student. Nandulal succumbed to his injuries, while Zaid suffered serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
The unusual sequence of accidents prompted Raidurgam police to book a case and investigate. It was during the probe that police traced the vehicle allegedly involved in the first accident and seized it.
Officials identified Sandeep, son of art director Anand Sai, as the alleged driver of the Innova that struck Nandulal. He was subsequently taken into custody and arrested in connection with the case.
Police are continuing their investigation to establish the exact sequence of events, determine the circumstances surrounding both accidents, and ascertain the role of those involved.
