Osmania University defeats Gujarat University in Inter-zonal Tennis Championship

Osmania University began its campaign with a 2-0 win over Gujarat University in the All India Inter-zonal Tennis Championship at Rohtak. Hasini Davunaboina and Sama Chevika Reddy won their singles matches to seal victory. OU faces Calcutta or Maharshi Dayanand next

Hyderabad: Osmania University, Hyderabad began its campaign in style, defeating Gujarat University 2-0 in the All India Inter-zonal Tennis Championship in Rohtak on Saturday.

A Sreemanya Reddy led the team from the front, allowing newcomer Hasini Davunaboina to play a key role in her impressive 6-0, 6-0 win against Krishna Dalal of Gujarat University.


Later, in the second singles, Sama Chevika Reddy outplayed Diya Desai 6-2, 6-2 to give a clear verdict for OU. Osmania will take on the winner of Calcutta University–Maharshi Dayanand University in the quarterfinal on Monday.
