Osmania University hosts international meet on AI in English teaching

Osmania University’s Department of English inaugurated a two-day international conference on Thursday focusing on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on English language teaching, multilingual education, and global employability.

Hyderabad: The Department of English, Osmania University, inaugurated a two-day International Conference on ‘Reimagining English Language Teaching in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Bridging Language, Literature, Technology and Global Employability’ on Thursday with the support of RUSA 2.0. 

The conference brought together academicians, researchers, educators, and students from across the country to deliberate on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English language teaching, multilingual education, and global employability. 


The inaugural session was attended by Prof. C. Kaseem, Principal, University College of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof. G. Naresh Reddy, Registrar, Osmania University, Prof. J. Savithri, Head, Department of English and Co-Convenors Prof. Parimala Kulkarni, Dr. J. Madhavi, and Dr. Konda Nageswara Rao. 

The plenary lecture on “AI Ethics and Academic Integrity” was delivered by Prof. S. Ramachandram, former Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University and a major attraction of the conference was the keynote address by Prof. Ianthi Maria Tsimpli, Chair of English and Applied Linguistics, University of Cambridge, on “English alongside Other Languages in India: The Educational Challenge.”
