Hyderabad: In a major boost to the city, Osmania University campus is set to get the synthetic track, synthetic tennis court and a swimming pool for women soon.

Sports Minister V Srininvas Goud laid foundation stone for the construction of these facilities on Sunday, on the occasion of Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary. Goud said the upcoming facilities would boost sports not just in the city but in the State as well. He further said that the State would come up with a sports policy soon which would benefit all the stakeholders in the sports facilities including athletes and coaches. He added that the State was in the forefront in supporting athletes by announcing cash incentives and encouraging them.


Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region G Kishan Reddy unveiled the plaque of the foundation stone. Those present on the occasion included Prof L B Laxmikanth Rathod, Vice Chancellor, Palamuru University and Prof Rajesh Kumar, Principal, University College of Physical Education, OU.
