Osmania University wins bronze in South East Zone football championship
Osmania University secured bronze, finishing third in the South East Zone inter-university football championship at Woxsen University. OU defeated Pt Ravishankar Shukla University but lost to Yenepoya University and drew with Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya. All four teams qualified for the All India event

Hyderabad: Osmania University bagged a bronze, finishing third in the South East Zone inter-university football championship for men at Woxsen University here.
In the quarterfinal, OU, with B Avinash as head coach and Sandeep Reddy, Physical Director of Loyola Academy, as manager, drubbed Swami Vivekanand University of Chhattisgarh 8-0.
Later in the semifinal round-robin league, OU defeated Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (Chhattisgarh) 6-3 but lost to Yenepoya University (Mangalore) 1-5. In the crucial third-round match, OU settled for a goalless draw against Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya (Chhattisgarh).
Yenepoya University emerged winner with nine points, followed by Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya, Osmania University and Pt Ravishankar Shukla University.
All the teams which finished in the top four qualified for the All India inter-university championship to be held in Kolkata from January 30.
