Hyderabad: D Bhagyalaxmi of Osmania University clocked 4.27.82 seconds to win gold medal in the 1500m event at the 81st All India Inter-University Women Athletics Championships held at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Tuesday.
The victory here earned a place in the World University Games scheduled to be held at Chengdu, China from June 26 to July 9. Varsha from Kurukshetra University finished second with 4.30.01 seconds while Sunita took the bronze medal with a timing of 4.30.15 seconds.
Meanwhile, Dutee Chand scripted history by clinching gold in 100m events in 11.44 seconds. She bettered the previous record timing of 11.57 seconds set in 2018 by NM Simi of MG University.
Results (Final): 1 D Bhagyalaxmi (4.27.82 sec) (OU); 2 Varsha (Kurukshetra University); 3 Sunita (Himachal Pradesh University).
