OU VC asks autonomous colleges to upload marks on secure cloud systems

Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram has directed autonomous colleges affiliated with the university to upload students' marks through secure cloud-based systems and strengthen safeguards against manipulation of examination records.

Hyderabad: Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram emphasized that autonomy was not merely an opportunity or privilege, but should be accompanied by greater responsibility, transparency and ethical accountability towards students and all stakeholders.

Prof. Kumar directed autonomous colleges to ensure that students’ marks are uploaded through secure cloud-based systems, leaving no scope for manipulation or tampering. He called for robust mechanisms to safeguard the integrity of examination records and stressed that discrepancies between internal and external marks must be identified and resolved immediately.

The OU Vice Chancellor held a meeting here on Wednesday with principals of the university’s affiliated autonomous colleges to review the implementation of the UGC Regulations, 2023, academic governance, examination standards, evaluation processes and measures to further strengthen academic quality.

Calling for higher standards in question-paper setting, Prof. Kumar said question papers should move beyond testing mere memory and assess understanding, application, analysis and other higher-order thinking skills in accordance with Bloom’s Taxonomy.

Prof. Kumar directed all autonomous colleges to complete Course Outcome (CO)–Programme Outcome (PO) mapping and strengthen Outcome-Based Education (OBE).

He called for the completion of the faculty ratification process within the current academic year and emphasized strict adherence to prescribed procedures in academic records, documentation and the awarding of marks.

Controller of Examinations Prof. B Sudhakar Reddy highlighted discrepancies observed in result processing in some autonomous colleges, including variations in results and issues relating to internal and external marks and evaluation processes. The analysis underlined the need for greater accuracy, consistency, transparency and systematic scrutiny at every stage of result processing.
