Hyderabad: Accusing Congress party of deceiving farmers, BJP Rajya Sabha Member K Laxman alleged that over 1000 farmers committed suicide after Congress came to power in Telangana.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Laxman alleged that as Congress failed to implement promises made to the farming community many of them were now facing financial problems. “Fifty percent of the farmers in the State are struggling to pay their debts. Many of them have commit suicide as they were not able to clear their debts. About 1000 farmers committed suicide during the one year rule of Congress,”he alleged.

The Congress government had almost stopped the Rythu Bandhu scheme and Rythu Bharosa programme, causing huge loss to the farmers. “The Congress government has lost the confidence of farmers. They no more trust Congress,”he said.

Coming down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Laxman alleged that the Chief Minister promised to provide 2 lakh jobs to youths, but he failed to do so. “Congress has forgotten Six Guarantees. It has cheated the youth, farmers, women and all sections of the people,”he alleged.
