Hyderabad: A man who was allegedly carrying marijuana was arrested by the Langer Houz police on Monday. The police seized 1.3 kilogram of ganja and a motorcycle from him.
B Anand Singh (25), of Lal Darwaza was found carrying the contraband after purchasing it from one Komal Singh (28) of Mangalhat when he was caught by the Langer Houz police.
“Anand Singh was transporting the consignment on his motorcycle to sell it to some persons at Charminar. On information, he was caught and the contraband seized from him,” Joint Commissioner of Police (West) AR Srinivas said.
A case under the NDPS Act was registered and efforts were on to nab Komal Singh who is absconding.
Meanwhile, two persons were caught with two kilograms on marijuana at Shabad in Rangareddy district late on Sunday.
Police said Purushotham Sharma, who runs a dhaba at Antharam Gate, had procured the marijuana with the help of his friend Sanjeev Kumar.
“They purchased marijuana for Rs 4,000 per kilo and packed them in small sachets of 10 gm each to sell to customers. They sold each packet for Rs 100,” officials said.
The two persons and the seized drug were produced before court.
