Hyderabad: A total of 346 persons caught by the Cyberabad Traffic Police for drunk driving and without a driving license in the last week were sentenced to imprisonment for durations ranging from one day to 14 days with the court imposing a fine as well.
The traffic police had caught 928 persons for drunk driving and without driving licence during regular vehicle checking between July 19 and 23 at various places across the Commissionerate. Officials said all those caught were produced before the court, which imposed a total fine of Rs 20.8 lakh on them.
According to the police, Kukatpally stood in first place with 79 persons imprisoned for drunk driving, followed by Miyapur with 60 persons, Gachibowli with 50 persons, Balanagar with 49 persons and Madhapur with 41 persons while Rajendranagar had 30 persons, Shamshabad 24 and Shadnagar with 13 persons.
Officials said the driving licenses of all the persons caught drunk were being sent to the Regional Transport Authority concerned for suspension of the license.
