Hyderabad: A new chapter in life is about to begin for over 800 families with the State government is planning to build more 2BHK houses and regularise the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) quarters located in different parts of the city.
There are 458 GHMC quarters in nine different locations in the city. Among them, works to regularise the ones at New Bhoiguda and Hyderbasti in Sanath Nagar Constituency will begin first.
The decision was taken at a review meeting held here on Friday by Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar. GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Managing Director Dana Kishore among other officials were present.
The Minister said MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao and the subcommittee had taken a favorable decision in a recent meeting on the regularisation of government quarters.
“On a parcel measuring over 3,571 square yards belonging to the Somappa Matham, 130 families have been residing since decades. Among them, 53 families were also given the pattas in 1996. Plans are underway to acquire the land and build 2BHK houses for them,” the Minister said in a press note here.
Meanwhile, it was also decided to provide electricity, lay new roads and provide other amenities to 70 families living on an Endowments Department land in Jeera Compound, Musheerabad.
“Plans are underway to build 2BHK houses at this site after the GHMC acquires the land from the Endowments Department,” officials said, adding that the meeting also decided to regularise 134 houses in Ramgopalpet Division.
