Over 95 per cent vaccination completed in Telangana’s ULBs

The department intensified its efforts following specific instructions from MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao to officials to get the employees and workers vaccinated on priority basis

Hyderabad: The Municipal Administration department ‘s intensified efforts to get its employees and workers inoculated is paying dividends with 95.12 per cent of employees and workers getting vaccinated in 141 ULBs and 98.47 per cent getting vaccinated in the 12 Municipal Corporations.

The department intensified its efforts following specific instructions from Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao to officials to get the employees and workers vaccinated on priority basis.


Accordingly, of the 30,269 employees and workers in 141 ULBs, 28,455 have been vaccinated so far. On Tuesday alone, 336 employees and workers got vaccinated. The remaining 1,478 employees and workers will be vaccinated in a few days, MAUD officials said.

Similarly, among the 12 Municipal Corporations, excluding Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, 8,872 had enrolled for vaccination and till Tuesday, 8,736 had been vaccinated. Over 98 percent of employees and workers have been vaccinated in the 12 Municipal Corporations and the remaining 136 employees will be vaccinated in a couple of days, the officials said.

As per the guidelines issued by the government, all employees over the age of 45 are being vaccinated. With the government issuing instructions to get employees and workers vaccinated on priority basis, the department made arrangements accordingly.

Rajanna Sircilla recorded 100 per cent vaccination of employees and workers with all 565 of them vaccinated by Tuesday. Similarly, Narayanpet and Nirmal districts also recorded 100 percent vaccination of employees and workers.

Warangal recorded 99.32 percent vaccination, followed by Nizamabad, which recorded 99.58 percent and Yadadri Bhongir 98.95. Majority of districts have recorded over 95 percent vaccination. Jangaon district is last in the chart with 75.93 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Administration department also intensified sanitation and spraying of disinfectants in all the ULBs and Municipal Corporations.

In the wake of Covid pandemic turning severe, Rama Rao had directed officials to initiate special sanitisation drives, besides extensive spraying of sodium hypochlorite and other disinfectants.

The Minister wanted the officials to cancel leaves and ensure 100 per cent attendance of employees. He instructed the entomologists in all the municipalities and municipal corporations to be alert and take up works in coordination with health department.

Accordingly, the Director Municipal Administration N. Satyanarayana issued instructions to all the municipalities and Municipal Corporations to take up sanitation Intensive Disinfectant Drive.

Already, the drive has been commenced in 1625 wards and 2854 public places across the State. As part of the drive, 13612 workers have been offered PPE kits among the 20792 workers.

Further, 1,01,112 litres of sodium hypochlorite and 1,72,804 kgs of bleaching powder has arranged in all the ULBS to take up the drive effectively.
