Owner locks up ESI Hospital in Kothagudem over pending rent

An ESI Hospital at Sarapaka in Kothagudem was locked by its owner over 15 months of pending rent. The landlord reopened the premises after ESI officials assured him that the outstanding rent would be paid soon.

Kothagudem: Upset over pending rent bills, the owner of an ESI Hospital building locked it up at Sarapaka industrial area in Burgampad mandal in the district on Friday. The hospital serves contract workers from ITC PSPD factory and their families. The hospital authorities failed to clear the rent for the facility for the past 15 months, the building owner complained.

Patients who had come for medical care were left waiting outside the locked hospital. When the hospital physician, Dr Chandu, informed ESI Joint Director in Warangal Hemalatha about the situation, she spoke to the landlord over the phone.

She assured him that the outstanding rent accumulated since July 2025 would be paid soon, noting that the payment process was underway. Considering the health needs of the workers, the landlord unlocked the premises, and medical services resumed.

Meanwhile, hospital doctors explained that although higher authorities have directed that the hospital be shifted from rented premises to a government building, no suitable government buildings are currently available in the area.
