Padayatras of opposition leaders will not yield result in Telangana: Minister

Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, in a veiled reference to the marathon undertaken by State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, said on Tuesday that padayatras undertaken by opposition parties would not yield any result in Telangana State.

Speaking to media after participating in abhisekham at Rudhireshwara Alayam in Pillalamarri village on the occasion of Maha Shivarathri, he said leaders of non-BJP leaders were on yatra to Delhi to bring down Narendra Modi from the Prime Minister’s seat. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was striving hard to unite all like-minded forces and to work with the single agenda of stopping the BJP from coming to power at the Centre in the next elections, he said.

Stating that the people of Telangana already knew all these facts, the Minister said people should compare the situation that prevailed in Telangana before and after 2014 and take a wise decision. “The development witnessed by the State in the last eight years is before the people. The Chief Minister brought light into the lives of the poor with various welfare schemes,” Jagadish Reddy said.

Stating that the BJP government had not extended free power to farmers, he pointed out that the farmers of Telangana have been getting 24 hours free electricity supply for their agriculture pump sets. Steep hike in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas by the Centre had caused financial burden on the people, he said, adding that fuel prices would further go up if BJP was voted to power again in the next elections.
