Peddapalli: The Dalit Bandhu Sadana Samithi has warned that padayatras would be organised across the State if the State government failed to release Dalit Bandhu funds. The padayatras, which would start from the constituencies of Dalit ministers, would cover the entire State, said Dalit Bandhu Sadana Samithi State president Koila Mahesh while addressing a press conference in Manthani on Monday.

He came down heavily on the State government for deceiving Dalits. Stating that Dalit ministers were least bothered about Dalit communities, he demanded that the Congress party implement its Chevella Declaration.

The Congress party manifesto committee, led by chairman D Sridhar Babu, had mentioned in its election manifesto that the Dalit Bandhu amount would be enhanced to Rs 15 lakh from Rs 10 lakh. It was not clear whether the Congress had made that promise with full commitment, but even after more than two-and-a-half years in power, nothing was being said about it.

Referring to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s statement that though he was the Chief Minister, everything was being operated by Sridhar Babu, he wanted the minister to take the initiative to release the Dalit Bandhu amount. Otherwise, a massive protest would be staged in Manthani if the Dalit Bandhu amount was not released within 15 days. Later, padayatras would be held across the State.

Besides starting a padayatra from Kamanpur, simultaneous yatras would be launched from the constituencies of Dalit ministers.
