Hyderabad: TPCC president A Revanth Reddy alleged that the TRS and BJP were involved in match-fixing over paddy procurement issue and charged that TRS MPs were enacting protest dramas in Parliament.
Addressing mediapersons in New Delhi on Monday, the TPCC president said TRS MPs would stop their protests in a few days and return home, but Congress would not remain a mute spectator and continue to fight on behalf of farmers. He demanded a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged theft of rice from Food Corporation of India godowns in Telangana.
Referring to a statement made by Union Agriculture Minister Piyush Goyal in the Rajya Sabha saying that discrepancies were found in rice stocks and registers when Central teams went for a physical verification, Revanth Reddy said the Centre should have ordered a CBI probe immediately. He further said the Congress party was seeking appointment with Piyush Goyal to press for its demand for a probe into what he termed as paddy procurement scam.
