Hyderabad: TRS leaders slammed the BJP MPs from Telangana and termed their statements against the State government on paddy procurement as irresponsible.
They challenged the four BJP MPs from the State to bring pressure on the BJP government at the Centre and get at least one medical college to the State to prove their commitment to development of the State.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan here on Monday, Rythu Bandhu Samithi chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said crop cultivation in Telangana State during Yasangi season was taken up in about 1.43 crore acres which cannot be found in any other States especially BJP-ruled States in the country. He pointed out that the State government was procuring the entire paddy crop from farmers despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The government is also providing Rythu Bandhu financial incentive and free power supply, among others, to help farmers in the State. Does any BJP-ruled State implement so many schemes to benefit farmers? The BJP leaders should clarify,” he demanded. He dared the BJP MPs to get at least one major medical college sanctioned for the State or get national project status to any irrigation project in the State. He said the State government was developing one government medical college per each district. The BJP leaders are turning a blind eye to such welfare schemes by the State government, he added.
Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation chariman Mareddy Srinivas Reddy said as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Corporation had opened nearly 7,000 procurement centres and purchased more than 58 lakh tonne of paddy so far. He stated that no other State was purchasing paddy from farmers in such a large scale during the pandemic.
