Paddy procurement will continue till June end: Nalgonda District Collector
"This would also enable farmers to get a good price for their crop," he said, and instructed the millers to unload the paddy from lorries that had queued up at their mills.
Nalgonda: District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil on Wednesday said farmers need not worry as the paddy purchasing exercise would continue till the last grain is procured.
Speaking at a meeting held with millers here, Patil said farmers should cooperate with the staff at the procurement centers by bringing paddy with low moisture content. “This would also enable farmers to get a good price for their crop,” he said, and instructed the millers to unload the paddy from lorries that had queued up at their mills.
The officials of agriculture department and staff at paddy purchasing centres should issue tokens to farmers to ensure systematic procedure in weighing and purchase of paddy, he said.
Stating that the paddy procurement centres will continue till June end, he suggested farmers not to rush with their paddy produce to the procurement centres in groups to avoid overcrowding.
Additional Joint Collector (Revenue) V Chandrasekhar, District Manager of Civil Supplies Nageshwar Rao and Rice Milers Association district president Yadagiri also attended the meeting.
