Hyderabad: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy on Wednesday accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of engaging in petty politics by attempting to implicate him and other BRS leaders in a drug scandal. He drew parallels to previous allegations made against BRS working president KT Rama Rao, which ultimately failed to stand, asserting that this latest attempt would also backfire.
Referring to the Chief Minister’s challenge for BRS MLAs, MLCs, and MPs to undergo drug testing, Kaushik Reddy declared his readiness. “All our MLAs are waiting. We have not been called yet, but we are ready to give our samples,” he said, while speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan here on Wednesday.
He reminded that though Congress MP Anil Kumar Yadav and MLC Balmuri Venkat visited AIG Hospitals for a drug test, they did not inform the BRS MLAs about it in advance. “Anil came to the hospital without informing us, sneaking in like a thief. If he had notified the media and us, all our 28 MLAs would have been waiting at AIG hospital,” Kaushik Reddy said.
However, the BRS MLA declared that his fight was not with Anil Kumar Yadav, but with the Chief Minister himself. He challenged Revanth Reddy and other Congress elected representatives to undergo drug tests, along with the BRS MLAs and MPs. He suggested that the Congress MP set a date and location for a public drug test before the media.
Kaushik Reddy dismissed Revanth Reddy’s claims to erase former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s legacy, questioning if Revanth Reddy could address a single event or meeting without mentioning the BRS president’s name.
“Our leader’s name is not something written by some painter on walls to erase; it is etched in the hearts of the people of Telangana,” he asserted.
