Hyderabad: Ekta Kapoor was one among the recipients of the fourth highest civilian award – Padma Shri – on Monday for her contribution to Art.
In a zoom interview with the media, Ekta Kapoor shared how it was to have received a call about the award. “It was last year and Karan Johar got the call first. He soon called me saying that I’m going to receive a call. And after some time, I received a call and the person informed me ‘Ma’am aapko Padma Shri saraya gaya hai’ and I thought I was invited for the function as someone was receiving the award. But he clarified that it is I who was going to receive the award and I just was very very elated.”
Sharing further that she was eagerly waiting for the official announcement of the award list so she can inform her mother, who she says is the most patriotic one at home, about receiving the honour from the country.
“Receiving such an honour from the nation is a big responsibility. It is an inspiration to work further not only for your company but to do something on a larger scale for social causes,” Ekta shared. Well, she says she has something big planned at the back end to extend her contribution towards the society and might announce it any time next year.
Launching home décor brand ‘EK’
Now, Ekta Kapoor along with Roposo has launched a whole new home décor and home furnishing brand called ‘EK’ that gives an opportunity to the local artisans and craftsmen to find a market through the brand.
Explaining elaborately about EK, Ekta shares, “We all have a bit of us that wants India, and I want to bring such ingrained cultures of India to every house through EK. From Mandala art bed sheets to traditionally designed vases and many more, the home décor brand will bring a touch of India with every product you choose.”
“EK is set in a way that the brand can bring profit to all. The karigars or craftsmen will get a market for their products and the consumers will get these home décor products at a lower price when compared to the rest in the market,” she adds.
EK is launched in collaboration with Roposo and Glance – the consumer internet company and is available via Roposo, Glance mobile marketing, and EK online website.
