Hyderabad: The Central government was leaving no stone unturned in safely bringing the Indian students to their native places, said union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday. The Centre was bringing the students from the day one after the war in Ukraine started a few days ago. “We will continue the operation ‘Ganga’ to bring every student from Ukraine to India,” he said at a press conference in New Delhi.
The governments in Ukraine and Russia gave instructions to their army personnel not to attack the Indian students. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation were making all efforts to bring the students to India safely, he said.
The Centre has also roped in Indian Air Force aircraft to bring the students, he said, adding that the students from Pakistan were raising ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogans and holding Indian flags to fly the aircraft.
“We are extending necessary cooperation to the students stranded in Ukraine and a task force was also set up at the Prime Minister’s Office and at the office of MEA,” he said, adding that blankets, food and other necessary articles would be supplied to the stranded students. As of now, 15,000 people were lifted from Ukraine so far, Reddy said.
