Hyderabad: As the effective implementation of Palle Pragathi and Pattana Pragathi programmes was aiding in comprehensive development of local bodies, the State government has allocated Rs.4,724 crore towards these programmes. Every month, the government was releasing Rs.227.5 crore to Gram Panchayats for executing different works. Under the Palle Pragathi programme, Vaikunta Dhamams were constructed with an outlay of Rs.1,547 crore.
Under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, the Central government had declared top 10 ranks across the country for Gram Panchayats, seven panchayats from Telangana featured in the list. In the Gandagi Mukt Bharat awards, Telangana was ranked first in the country. This is an excellent indicator of development in villages, Finance Minister T Harish Rao said while presenting the budget in the Assembly here on Monday.
Due to covid pandemic, many had lost jobs and employment was hit across the country. In the union budget, allocation for MGNREGA programme was reduced by Rs.25, 000 crore and this would have an adverse impact on rural employment opportunities, he said.
Despite these issues, the State government has proposed to allocate Rs.3, 330 crore for Palle Pragathi programme in the budget, the Minister added. Similarly, to ensure planned growth of towns and cities, Pattana Pragathi programme was launched to take up different development programmes. In 2021, the Central government announced Swachh Survekshan awards were announced, among these Telangana municipalities’ bagged 12 awards in different categories.
To continue the development works, the State government has proposed Rs.1, 394 crore for the Pattana Pragathi programme, he added.
