Paloncha society leader seeks cancellation of fresh draw for double bedroom houses

Paloncha Cooperative Society vice president Kampelli Kanakesh Patel demanded cancellation of the recent draw for double bedroom houses in Kothagudem, alleging that 380 beneficiaries selected in 2023 were ignored. He warned of a High Court petition and large-scale protests.

Kothagudem: Paloncha Cooperative Society vice president Kampelli Kanakesh Patel wanted the district administration to cancel the recent draw of lots held to allot double bedroom houses built in the Navabharat area in Kothagudem.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, he alleged that there was a conspiracy to snatch away the houses of 380 poor beneficiaries who were previously selected through an official draw, issued allotment slips and listed on the Tahsildar’s notice board.

He informed that in 2023, after screening 1,976 eligible applicants from 24 wards of Paloncha municipality, a draw of lots was conducted in the presence of the then MLA Vanama Venkateswara Rao and revenue officials.

MLA K Sambasiva Rao and revenue officials conducted a fresh draw of lots for selecting 360 beneficiaries on September 24, setting aside the previously selected beneficiaries without any official notice, Kanakesh Patel alleged, seeking to know why they lost their eligibility now.

It was unfair to discard the previous list and conduct a fresh draw of lots just because the government and the MLA changed, he said, demanding that houses be allocated to the 380 who were given allotment slips in 2023.

If the local MLA, district Collector and revenue and municipal officials failed to respond and provide a clear assurance to the 380 previously selected individuals, a writ petition would be filed in the High Court and large-scale protests would be launched, Kanakesh Patel warned.
