Parts of erstwhile Adilabad see light to moderate rains

As per the Telangana Development Planning Society’s weather report, Mancherial district recorded an average rainfall of 36.2 mm. Within the district, Mancherial mandal received the highest rainfall at 64.6 mm, followed by Naspur mandal with 52.6 mm.

Adilabad: Parts of erstwhile Adilabad district saw light to moderate rains on Wednesday night, wreaking havoc on paddy farmers by drenching their grains stored in procurement centres.

According to a weather report on Telangana Development Planning Society’s website, Mancherial district’s average rainfall was gauged to be 36.2 mm. Mancherial mandal had the highest rainfall of 64.6 mm, followed by Naspur mandal which experienced 52.6 mm of rainfall. Chennur, Dandepalli, Hajipur, Jannaram, Kotapalli and Kasipet mandals recorded anywhere between 30 mm and 50 mm of rainfall.

Nirmal district registered an average rainfall of 35.6 mm. Soan mandal received the highest rainfall of 71.4 mm, while Kaddampeddur and Laxmanachanda mandal had 65.7 mm and 65.4 mm of rainfall respectively. Mudhole, Dilawarpur, Lokeshwaram, Nirmal, Mamada, Nirmal Rural, Pembi and Khanapur mandals recorded over 30 mm of rainfall. Jainad, Gudihathnoor, Narnoor, Talamadugu, Ichoda and Utnoor mandals registered above 20 mm of rainfall.

Meanwhile, the average rainfall of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district was measured to be 28.2 mm. Sirpur (U) mandal had the highest rainfall of 56 mm, while Sirpur (T) and Jainoor mandals experienced over 50 mm of rainfall. Adilabad district’s average rainfall was 16.7 mm. Bazarhathnoor mandal recorded the highest rainfall of 37.1 mm.

Due to unseasonal rains, paddy grains stored at procurement centres in different parts of Mancherial and Nirmal district were drenched, causing losses to farmers. The affected farmers staged rasta-roko demanding the government to purchase the grains and to extend immediate relief. Traffic came to a standstill on the Nirmal and Bhainsa routes following the blockade of the vehicular movement.
