Nirmal: Patients escaped unhurt when a fire broke out in a store room on the first floor of the district headquarters hospital.
The fire was suspected to have been triggered by an electric short-circuit here on Sunday. Value of the property damaged is yet to be assessed.
Staffers of the hospital alerted the officials when fire broke out in the store room. The patients were safe as the flames did not spread to the wards abutting the store room.
Fire fighters were summoned from the Nirmal fire station to extinguish the flames.
They managed to douse the flames in an hour. Officials of the hospital heaved a sigh of relief when no patients sustained injuries in the mishap. An inquiry has been initiated into cause of the accident.
