Pattana Pragathi: Give utmost priority to sanitation activities, says KTR
He told the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) officials about the activities taken up under the programme and gave them several suggestions
Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister KT Rama Rao on Friday instructed water board officials to give utmost priority to sanitation activities taken up under the Pattana Pragathi programme.
He told the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) officials about the activities taken up under the programme and gave them several suggestions.
“Increased attention should be given to cleaning and desilting of nalas in HMWSSB jurisdiction, including the ones located in the GHMC as well as other municipalities/ municipal corporations,” said the Minister to water board officials. He asked them to coordinate with officials of GHMC and also surrounding areas while executing the works.
The Minister also directed them to take all safety precautions amid monsoon on priority. “Safety measures should be taken pertaining to all the manholes falling under HMWSSB jurisdiction,” he said. For monsoon, the Minister said that exclusive sanitation activities should be taken up and drains, especially the ones flowing through residential areas should be cleaned regularly. The water board officials were also asked to utilise the jetting machines for cleaning. The officials informed the Minister that they were taking all the safety measures pertaining to manholes and recently 11,000 manholes were repaired. The meeting was attended by MAUD principal secretary Arvind Kumar, HMWSSB Managing Director, Dana Kishore and other officials.
