Karimnagar: District Collector RV Karnan on Saturday directed the officials to implement the model code of conduct strictly in Huzurabad Assembly constituency and pay attention to advertisements and paid articles by contestant candidates.
The Collector along with election observers Muthu Krishnan, Shankar Narayana, Anupam Agarwal, Ch Elamurugu, SH Subodh Singh and Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana conducted a review meeting on the by-poll here. “Pay special attention to advertisements given by candidates in newspapers, TV channels, YouTube channels and social media as well as paid articles,” he said, adding that the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee was frequently submitting reports on fake news. He warned that cases would be registered if anyone tries to distribute money and liquor to attract voters.
The Collector instructed Lead Bank manager to submit details of accounts that had transactions of over Rs 1 lakh in a day. He also instructed the excise superintendent to close belt-shops in Huzurabad constituency. He wanted the Commissioner of Police to intensify vigilance in check posts established in different parts of the constituency.
Observers enquired with nodal officers about police deployment, check posts, and campaign expenditure of contestant candidates.
Additional Collector GV Shyamprasad Lal, Assistant Collector Mayank Mittal, Zilla Parishad ECO Priyanka and nodal officers participated in the review meeting.
