PD Act invoked against seasoned drug peddler in Sangareddy
District Collector and District Magistrate M Hanumantha Rao issued proceedings on November 24 permitting the excise department officials to invoke PD Act against him.

Sangareddy: Excise officials of Sangareddy district have detained a seasoned drug peddler, who was involved in multiple drug transportation cases in Sangareddy district, and invoked the PD Act against him on November 24. The accused was identified as Rathod Bansilal alias Jadhav Bansilal (44), a resident of Chillapalli Tanda in Jharasangam Mandal.
He was involved in transportation of a huge quantity of ganja from Odisha to Zaheerabad area in Sangareddy district. Rathod was involved in transportation of 825 kg and 508 kg of ganja in two separate incidents. District Collector and District Magistrate M Hanumantha Rao issued proceedings on November 24 permitting the excise department officials to invoke PD Act against him.
Deputy Commissioner, Excise and Enforcement, KAB Sastry said they will not hesitate to invoke the PD Act against drug peddlers to check transportation and sales of drugs in Sangareddy district.
In a press statement on Thursday, the Deputy Commissioner said they arrested 30 drug peddlers and registered 15 cases so far this year. Stating that 10 vehicles and 1,385 kg of ganja were seized, Sastry said the department also destroyed 385 ganja plants in the district during the year.
