Hyderabad: The city police invoked the PD Act against six persons involved in the murder of a Communist Party of India State Council member and tribal leader at Malakpet in July this year.

The man, Kethavath Chandu Rathod, was hacked to death in full public view when he came out after a morning walk at a local park.

Hyderabad CP VC Sajjanar invoked the PD Act against the suspects Donthi Rajesh alias Rajanna, Kumba Yedukondalu, Atmakuri Srinu, Kandukuri Prashanth, Arjun Gnana Prakash and Lingibedi Rambabu. The orders were served on them on Monday.

In another case, the city police invoked the PD Act against a POCSO offender, Syed Abdul Basith, a resident of Madannapet. He is involved in three cases of sexual assault on minor children within a year.
