Jeddah: Jeddah: For Hyderabadis living abroad, food often becomes their closest connection to home. Amid growing migration, it is the thriving Hyderabadi restaurants overseas that continue to unite the diaspora with their roots.
These eateries are not just places to eat, they are cultural spaces, bringing together diverse communities and offering a flavourful slice of India’s rich culinary heritage. Bustling with activity, Hyderabadi restaurants serve as social hubs where friends, families, and colleagues gather over familiar meals, creating a sense of community in foreign lands.
As migration continues and global interest in Indian spices and flavours grows, many Deccani restaurants have found success in international markets. Karimnagar’s popular Peacock Restaurant, renowned for its Hyderabadi biryani and kebabs, is now embarking on its first major overseas venture in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
Known for its large South Asian population and love for authentic Indian cuisine, Riyadh will soon host the first Telangana-origin restaurant from outside Hyderabad. Located in the heart of the city, Peacock Restaurant aims to serve as a culinary and cultural bridge between Indians and Arabs.
“We serve all traditional Indian food, from South Indian breakfasts like idli and dosa in the early morning to rich, curated recipes in the evening,” said Mohammed Zaki Uddin, one of the promoters, along with Syed Wayez Ahmed.
He added that the restaurant is designed to host private events, featuring a spacious banquet hall and a casual dining space that can accommodate up to 120 guests at a time.
The restaurant is set to be inaugurated on Friday by Indian Ambassador Dr Sohail Ajaz Khan.
