Peddapalli: Some political leaders, trade unionists and middlemen are allegedly collecting money from unemployed youths, promising them contractual employment in Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemical Limited.
Amounts ranging between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh have been collected from each youth, and over 200 persons have reportedly paid money to brokers, sources said.
When the issue was brought to the notice of RFCL management, it released a public notice on Thursday asking the people not to be cheated by middlemen who are money for contractual works at RFCL project site.
It is learnt that unemployed youths, who lost employment due to Covid-19 pandemic, are approaching public representatives, trade union leaders and middlemen for jobs in RFCL, which is ready to reopen in the next two months.
Taking advantage of the situation, they are allegedly collecting money promising contract jobs in various departments. A number of people lost employment with the closure of FCI. They are also making approaching public representatives and trade union leaders to get jobs, the sources said, adding that about Rs 5 lakh is being collected for hereditary jobs.
The contract workers get a salary of Rs 8,000 to Rs 8,500 without PF and ESI facility, and are removed if the contractor is changed.
Recently, contract labourers working in the central canteen were removed following the change of contractor, RFCI source said.
In its public notice, RFCL management said it was brought to their notice that money was being demanded from the public for securing employment in various contracts as contractual workers at the project site.
No money was required to be paid to anyone for the purpose of securing employment as contract labourer, the management said, and urged the public to be cautious against such fraudulent activities and to refrain from paying money to anyone offering contractual employment at RFCL.
