Peddapalli: Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Tuesday arrested Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of Peddapalli, Kundikala Shankar Kumar, on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a contractor.
Shankar Kumar was also discharging duties as in-charge commissioner of Ramagundam Municipal Corporation.
According to ACB officials, Shankar Kumar demanded Rs 1 lakh bribe from a contractor Gaikwad Rajinikanth for sanctioning the bills of Rs 9.28 lakh pertaining to the works of spraying Sodium Hypochlorite in Ramagundam Municipal Corporation limits. Unable to pay the bribe amount, the contractor approached ACB officials who nabbed Thota Mallikarjun a servant of RDO who was accepting the bribe amount from the contractor at the RDO office in Peddapalli on Tuesday afternoon. Later, Shankar Kumar was also taken into custody and produced in ACB court, Karimnagar.
