Peddapalli youth gets 3 years in jail for harassing minor girl on WhatsApp

The court examined evidence presented by the public prosecutor and cross-questioned 10 eyewitnesses before delivering the sentence.

Adilabad: A youngster from Peddapalli district was on Tuesday sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fined Rs. 4,000 for harassing a minor girl through WhatsApp two years ago.

The Additional District Principal Court Judge, Dr Shivaram Prasad, pronounced the verdict against Sagar Sharath (20) of Godavarikhani in Peddapalli. The court found him guilty of harassing and blackmailing a girl from Bela mandal via the instant messaging platform on April 15, 2023.

The court examined evidence presented by the public prosecutor and cross-questioned 10 eyewitnesses before delivering the sentence.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan appreciated Bela police and court duty officer Pandari for their efforts in securing the conviction.
