Sangareddy: Excise Department officials seized 3 kilograms of ganja from a peddler at Sulthanpur under the purview of Patancheru Excise Department on Saturday.
Following a tip-off, the Excise officials caught Akula Isaac, a native of Pendurru in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, at Sultanpur village and recovered 1.56 kgs of ganja which was packed into 30-gram packets.
After taking him into custody, they also raided his apartment located in the Bachupally area where they found another 3.5 kg of the contranband and seized his mobile phone too. During the inquiry, Isaac admitted that he was buying ganja from the Visakhapatnam agency area.
Eyeing on industrial workers and students in Patancheru, Isaac used to sell ganja in 50 and 30 gram packets. He used to sell 30 gram packets of ganja at Rs 500. The excise team led by Inspector Sitaram Reddy produced the peddler before the media on Sunday afternoon. The Inspector said Isaac was arrested in the past too on the same charges.
