‘People need to know the importance of generic drugs’

Warangal Urban: GWMC Additional Commissioner Ch Nageshwar on Wednesday said people should be aware of the importance of generic drugs.
He was speaking after inaugurating the newly set up Prime Minister’s Jana Aushadhi Kendra Pharmacy (generic drug store) near Waddepalli cross road in Hanamkonda on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said people generally were not keen on using generic drugs compared to branded ones. “There is a need to bring about awareness among the people on generic drugs which are available at cheaper prices. The generic stores stock all generic medicines for all types of diseases,” he added.
The event was attended by Drugs Control Additional Director Srinivas, Drug Inspector Rafi Sheikh along with Ram Shivaji, Challa Srinivas Reddy, Karka Srinivas Reddy, the organisers of the shop, and others.
