Warangal: Police Commissioner Dr Tarun Joshi has called on the people to organise festivals with respect to other religions. With Ganesh Navaratri festivities going on, a peace committee meeting with the religion heads was held here on Monday.
Addressing the meeting, the CP said Warangal city was known for religious harmony for a long time and urged the people of different religions to cooperate with each other to celebrate their respective festivals and make it a smooth process for the police too. “We must respect each other’s religion and pass the same tradition to future generations,” he said and asked the organisers of Ganesh pandals to conduct the festivities in accordance with the rules and regulations prescribed by the police.
“Ganesh pandal organisers should not cause obstruction to traffic on roads and bylanes. Appropriate measures should be taken to avoid any inconvenience to passersby,” the CP said. He also suggested that the pandal organisers not to cause any problems to the aged, children and infants with high decibel music through amplifiers, and urged the pandal organisers to inform the police about routes of the Shoba yatra (procession) on the day of immersion so as to avoid trouble to road users.
Police officials of the central zone, religious heads, pandal organisers and others attended the meeting.
