Warangal: Government Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar along with Mayor Gundu Sudharani inaugurated the Pet Park at Balasamudram in the 30th division under the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits here on Saturday. It is the first of its kind park meant for pets and their owners to be opened in the State after Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Bhaskar said that pets, particularly dogs are the most beloved companions to humans.
“Dogs are treated like their wards by many people. That is why the pet park was set up in Warangal after Hyderabad for dog lovers has been made with state-of-the-art facilities. Landscaping, beautiful surroundings and play areas have been set up for the pets at the park,” he said, explaining the facilities at the park.
“For the convenience of the city dwellers, the State government is setting up a number of parks in the city. The GWMC officials should maintain it properly. I urged the officials to take steps to set up an exclusive veterinary clinic in the park for the health of the dogs besides conducting the ‘pet shows’,” he added.
Mayor Gundu Sudharani said that parks and junctions are developed and modernised in the city under the GWMC to get a facelift for them. “By identifying the vacant parklands, we are developing the parks by planting the saplings under the Haritha Haram programme. As part of that, a pet park has also been set up for dog lovers in Balasamudram,” he said, adding that they had developed a variety of facilities.
“The owners of the pets can bring their dogs can go for a walk on the walking track. A shuttle court, an open gym, and toilets have also been set up at the park,” she added.
