Hyderabad: Stating that the Congress government had deceived farmers by assuring them that the Pharma City would be scrapped, the Pharma City Vyathireka Porata Samithi (PCVPS) cautioned visitors at the Global Summit not to invest in Future City and get cheated. They pointed out that amid reports of the Future City Vision Document being released at the Future City Global Summit on Tuesday, the delegates should know that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Cabinet Ministers had promised farmers of Yacharam Mandal in Rangareddy district during the 2023 elections that the Pharma City project would be cancelled once they came to power. They had included this promise in their election manifesto. However, till today, the Pharma City has not been cancelled, PCVPS convenor K Saraswathi said in a statement here on Monday.
Interestingly, the Congress government was announcing that it would construct a Future City, and at the same time, it had submitted an affidavit in the Telangana High Court stating that the Pharma City project was being continued. “Before the elections, the Congress party promised to protect farmers’ lands but now they are threatening farmers to give up their lands,” Saraswathi said. According to law, if any new project was to be taken up in these lands, the existing land acquisition notification must be cancelled. All the details and project report of the new project must be issued in Telugu in every village and public consultation meetings must be conducted. New environmental clearances must also be obtained, she pointed out.
“The Congress government claims it will construct Future City on the lands already acquired for Pharma City and it is not legally valid,” she said.
Further, in the four villages of Medipally, Nanaknagar, Tatiparthy and Kurmidda under Yacharam Mandal, the High Court had issued stay orders and instructed that even the lands acquired so far should not be taken into possession, she reminded.
Showcasing these disputed lands to world leaders and industry managements with the claim that the Future City would be constructed here was a clear fraud by the State government, she alleged. “We caution the invitees participating in the Global Summit that this government has cheated us by giving false promises. If you trust them and invest here, you will also be cheated,” Saraswathi added.
