Hyderabad: A pharmacist was allegedly killed by her husband at Banjara Hills on Saturday night after she asked him not to consume liquor.
According to the police, Kapu Aruna (28) stayed with her husband G Kopanna and their two sons at Filmnagar under the Banjara Hills police station limits. She worked as a pharmacist, and the family are natives of Kurnool district in AP.
On Saturday around 9.30 pm, Kopanna came home in an inebriated condition. Noticing this, Aruna scolded him and asked him to give up the habit. Kopanna got angry and picked a quarrel with his wife for asking him not to consume liquor.
“Angered over this, Aruna took a saree, tied it to a ceiling hook in the house and stood on a stool, threatening that she would end her life if Kopanna continued the habit. Kopanna, who was in an inebriated condition, kicked the stool, due to which Aruna hung from the saree and got strangulated. She died on the spot,” said Banjara Hills inspector A Ramesh.
On a complaint, the police registered a case and took Kopanna into custody. Aruna’s body was shifted to the OGH mortuary, where an autopsy was conducted. The body was later handed over to her relatives.
