Wanaparthy: Mild tension prevailed at Jangamaiahpally village of Peddamandadi mandal in Wanaparthy district on Friday after two villagers Y Kondanna and his son Anjaneeyulu attacked the Panchayat Secretary Degareddy and poured petrol on him for shifting pigs from the village.

The villagers, however, came to the rescue of Panchayat Secretary and sent him away from the premises safely. The incident took place when Degareddy came to shift pigs from the village to another place. As workers were attempting to shift pigs into a vehicle, Kondanna and his son became furious and started attacking Degareddy.

They also poured petrol on him but the villagers intervened and rescued him. Following a series of complaints about the pigs menace in the village, the Panchayat Secretary asked both Kondanna and his son to shift their pigs to another place.

But they did not heed to the Panchayat Secretary’s advice. As complaints continued to pour in, he along with workers came to the village and attempted to shift pigs in the morning. But Kondanna and Anjaneeyulu assaulted him.

Based on a complaint lodged by the Panchayat Secretary, the police booked a case against the attackers. The Panchayat Secretary deplored the highhandedness of the two accused persons when he attempted to ensure cleanliness in the village.

The villagers also demanded the police take stern action against Kondanna and Anjaneeyulu.
