Pipeline leak disrupts drinking water supply in Hyderabad

A major leak on the Manjeera Phase-II 1500 mm PSC pumping main at Rudraram disrupted water supply to several Hyderabad localities on Friday. HMWSSB teams began emergency repairs, with normal supply expected to be restored by Saturday afternoon

Hyderabad: Certain areas in the city experienced a severe water supply disruption on Friday.

“A significant leak occurred at Rudraram in Manjeera Phase 2, 1500 mm dia PSC pumping main, which supplies drinking water to the Hyderabad metropolitan area,” said an official statement by HMWSSB.


This leak is causing interruptions in drinking water supply in several areas including Beeramguda, Ameenpur, Miyapur, Deepti Sri Nagar, KPHB Housing Board, Nizampet, Hydernagar, Moosapet, Erragadda HMWSSB stated in the release.

As a result, there is a disruption in the drinking water supply on Friday. The Hyderabad Water board officials are undertaking emergency repair work, which is expected to be completed and supply restored by December 13 afternoon, it stated.
